Games
and Activities
Valentine Cake Walk
(ages 3-10)
Do a cake walk with cupcakes as
prizes. Have the guests walk on numbered hearts cut from construction
paper in
a circle. They walk around while music plays. When the music stops, the
guests
stop. Pick a number from the hat and the guest standing on that number
gets a
cupcake. Continue the music and picking numbers until each guest gets a
cupcake.
Broken Heart Puzzle
(ages 3-12)
Cut hearts from construction paper
and glue a picture to the heart (from magazines, coloring books, or
even family
photos). Then cut the hearts into puzzles. For younger guests use only
three or
four pieces. For older guests use six or even eight pieces for the
puzzles. Give
each guest their puzzle in a baggie, then race to see who can put their
heart
puzzle together first.
Serve Your Love (ages
3-16)
Group the guests into sets of two
and give each set a bowl of pudding, a spoon and a blindfold. Put a
blindfold
on one of the guests and have that guest try to feed the pudding to the
other
guest. Then switch, with a new bowl of pudding and new spoon, of
course. Get
lots of pictures!
Steal a Kiss (ages
5-16)
Steal a kiss at your Valentine party. Put three lip cutouts on the back
of each guest with masking tape. Instruct the guests to collect as many
kisses
as they can. The game is over when everyone has lost their lips from
their
backs. The winner has the most kisses.
Find Your Match (ages
5-16)
Cut hearts of different sizes,
shapes and styles in 2 pieces. Give each guest a half heart as they
arrive and
have them find the guest with the other half of their heart.
12 Days of Valentines
(ages 6-16)
Make your own adaptation of the
famous Christmas song for your Valentine party. What did your true love
give to
you? On the first day of Valentine’s my true love gave to me, a
chocolate in a
coconut tree.

Conversational
Valentines
(ages 8-16)
Put conversation hearts in order
to make a sentence or write a letter for your valentine.
Chocolate Scramble
(ages 8-16)
Unscramble your favorite flavors of chocolate.
Conversation Hearts
(ages 8-16)
Give each guest a print out of a
heart and instruct them to make their own conversation hearts. They can
write their
own messages in the hearts or cut out words and letters from magazines
to glue
in the heart and create a message.
Cupid’s Word Find
(ages 8-16)
How many words can you make from
the letters in Cupid’s Arrows?
Crafts
Heart Creations
(ages 3-12)
Provide many hearts cut from various colors of paper and of
various sizes. Also provide glue, googly eyes, and additional paper and
scissors. Have the guests make people, animals or other creations from
the
paper hearts.
I
Love You in ASL
Mittens (ages 3-12)
Share the
love
with this craft at
your Valentine party. Stuff knit mittens with batting. Use hot glue to
hold
down the middle and ring fingers so the mitten is saying “I Love You”
in
American Sign Language. Tie with a ribbon and bow at the bottom or the
mitten. Heart
Felt Pockets
(ages 3-12)
Cut heart shapes from felt. Stitch or glue the bottom parts
together so they form a pocket. Then decorate with glitter glue, pom
poms, felt
cut outs, etc. For younger guests make the pockets before the party so
they
only need to decorate them. Older guests can make the pockets
themselves. These
may be stuffed with Valentine candy.
Clothespin
Hugs
(ages 3-16)
Before the party drill a small hole through each clothespin.
Don’t use the clothespins that clip. Use the kind that, from the side,
kind of
look like a person without arms. Drill a small hole where the arms
should come
out. Give each guest one of these clothespins and have them string a
narrow
ribbon through the holes, with a bead on either side, to give this
little
person arms. Then wrap the arms around their necks, tie a knot (like a
necklace) and now each of your guests has a Valentine’s Day hug! Cookie
Decoration
(ages 3-16)
Give the guests cookies or
cupcakes to decorate. Provide frosting, butter knives, and lots of
Valentine’s
candy.
Refreshments
Brownies made into a heart shape. It’s simple. Just bake
them in a cupcake tin, with a paper liner. Place a single marble in
each tin,
between the pan and the liner. Then pour in the batter and bake
according to
directions. Each brownie will come out with a gentle heart shape. How
about a kiss for your Valentine party? Make
giant kisses from rice krispies in a funnel.
