Decorations
Colors should match your favorite hero.

For a classic Superman party use the primary colors, red, blue and yellow. Print out a large Superman crest to put up. Put up the phrase, “Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman!”

A Spiderman party needs blue and red. Put spider web up in a corner, sprinkled with a few spiders from Halloween that have been spray painted blue and red.

A Batman party calls for black and blue, with a bit of grey. Put the Bat Signal on your wall and a bunch of bat silhouettes around the room.

Put up balloons and streamers in the appropriate colors.

Print out superhero action words and stick them around the room.

Show your favorite superhero in action! Print out these spirals on colored paper that coordinates with your favorite superhero and cut along the lines. Then tape a picture of Superman, Batman or Spiderman to the center of these curly danglers and hang from the ceiling.

Here's a superhero birthday banner you can print and string up.

Costumes/Dress up
Give everyone a pair of oversized underwear (boys briefs) to wear outside their clothes. It’s hilarious for the right age and it’s what all the superheroes do. Of course, be sensitive to how other parents may feel. Some would be extremely offended at such an idea.

Offer your guests capes and masks. Capes can easily be made from an old sheet.

Games and Activities
Hot Kryptonite (ages 3-7)
Have the guests sit in a circle. Play music, preferably from a superhero action movie, and have the guests pass around a piece of Kryptonite (a green colored stone or green bean bag). Stop passing when the music stops. The guest holding the Kryptonite is out. Continue until only one guest is left. Find out who is the ultimate superhero at your ultimate superhero party.

Stretch and Reach (ages 3-12)
Mr. Fantastic and Elastigirl can stretch out really far. Give each guest a stretchy hand and have them try to pick up as many Uno cards (or other card game) as they can, using the stretchy hands.

Villain Attack (ages 3-12)
Allow the guests to take turns attacking the bad guys (inflatable punch bag). Have them stand about 10 feet away, then run, punch or kick the punch bag.

Flash Race (ages 3-16)
Run fast like Flash. Use streamers for the finish line.

Knock Down the Wall (ages 3-16)
Show your super strength. Knock through a wall made of empty boxes. Use small boxes covered with red paper with bricks drawn on them. This is one of the most popular games at a superhero party. Keep stacking and knocking down the wall until the guests tire of it.

Pin the Mask on the Superhero (ages 4-10)
Put the mask on the superhero. Find a large poster of your favorite superhero and cut out several masks that match. Give each guest a mask with their name on it. Take turns blindfolding the guests and have them tape a mask on the superhero. The guest whose mask matches best, wins.

Web Spinning (ages 5-16)
Give each guest a can of silly string and instruct them to shoot it at each other like spinning a spider web. Also instruct them to NOT shoot it in each other’s eyes. After it’s all over have a contest to see who can make the biggest ball out of silly string. It’s a nice way to have the guests help clean up the mess.

Bad Guy Punch (ages 5-16)
Give each guest a balloon to inflate and decorate. Draw a villain face on the balloon then punch the bad guy.

Superhero Match (ages 8-16)
Match wits with this fun game and match the superhero and their secret identities.

Crafts
Superhero Masks (ages 3-16)
Make masks using templates. Print onto white cardstock. Allow the guests to cut out and color their own masks. Punch out holes as marked. Tie elastic or yarn through the holes and tie behind the guest’s head.

Superhero Crests (ages 3-16)
Have your guests make their own superhero crests using templates. It will be a real superhero party when all the guests are wearing superhero masks.

Super Comics (ages 8-16)
Find some comic strips, white out what is written in the word bubbles and have the guests rewrite the comics. Take turns sharing the new creations.

Refreshments
Super size it! Serve jumbo cookies or giant pretzels.

Hero Sandwiches – basically a hoagie sandwich. Make a super sized Hero Sandwich out of a loaf of French bread. Cut it down the center and line with sliced meats, cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Then cut the sandwich into 2 inch slices. For the ultimate Hero Sandwich try the Sandwich for a Crowd, found here. It will make your superhero party very tasty.

Serve sandwiches cut into diamond shapes (Superman crest).

Powerade for drinks, of course.

Take Home Gift Ideas
Put together a bag with superhero stickers, comic books, stretchy hands, water guns and a tub of slime.
