Fairy Tale Creatures
– Assign each guest a different Shrek or Fairy Tale Creature and let them play
20 questions to try to guess which creature each guest is. The trick is you can
only ask questions that require a yes or no answer. And, if you guess a
creature, like Red Riding Hood, and that isn’t the answer, then you lose the
game.
Make Gingerbread Cookies
– You can use real gingerbread
dough, sugar cookie dough or playdoh.
Sing it Out! –
Hold a karaoke or Far, Far Away Idol competition for your guests. You can use
songs from the movie or pick your own favorite songs for your Shrek party.
Potion Factory –
Make your own potions with dragon’s blood (catsup), unicorn tears (apple
juice), ant poop (poppy seeds), and other clever items you can come up with.
Escape the Castle Dungeon
– There are two ways to go on this Shrek party game. Make a maze type of obstacle course
and have the guests go through it as quickly as possible to escape the dungeon.
Or, build a wall with empty boxes and have your guests take turns giving it a head
butt to go through it like Fiona’s mom does in the Shrek 2.
Fairy Godmother Wands
– Make fairy godmother wands with foot long dowel rods. Add ribbons, glitter
and felt stars.
Swamp Slime –
Make slime for your guests. Mix white craft glue, Borax, water, and green food
coloring. First, pour Borax into water until no more dissolves. Then combine
glue with a little water and then mix the two solutions together. And then add
the food coloring. Separate into baggies
for your guests.
Castle Building
– Provide each Shrek party guest with a paper plate and a stack
of sugar cubes. Have bowls filled with white, pink and yellow frosting on the
table with lots of plastic butter knives. Write the guests names on the paper plates
and let them build their castles with sugar cube bricks and frosting
mortar.
Happily Ever After Stories
– Write
your own fairy tale, with each guest
contributing one line. “Once upon a time there lived an ogre…” Hand the
paper to a guest who writes the next line. Then fold over the first line and
hand to another guest. That guest writes just one line and folds down the
previous line. Continue until each guest has had a turn writing a line of the
story. If there are only a few guests, everyone may take two turns.
Twist the Fairy Tale Skits
– Split the guests into teams. Give each team a small bag with three household
items and the titles of two different fairy tales and have each team make a
skit to include the items in the bag and elements from the fairy tales they are
given. Set a time limit to prepare the skits then put on a great show.
Pin the Tail on the Donkey
– It’s a classic that’s too good to pass up for a Shrek movie party.
Donkey Pinata –
It may not be Donkey’s favorite party game, but it’s still a good one. Go for
it.
