Popcorn Recipes

Here's some great popcorn recipes to enjoy.

Popcorn snacks are good in so many different ways.

We usually prefer it with a little butter and salt. Sometimes my kids like to put cheese powder on it, as well. I use the cheese powder from a box of macaroni and cheese.

Chocolate Covered Popcorn

Fruit Flavored Popcorn

Root Beer Popcorn

Soft Caramel Popcorn

Fruit Flavored Popcorn

12 cups popped popcorn
½ cup butter
¾ cup sugar
1 pkg.
(3 oz.) fruit-flavored Jello

1 Tbsp. corn syrup
3 Tbsp. water
¼ tsp. baking soda

Grease two cookie sheets with sides and spread popcorn over both. Place baking pans in the oven to warm the popcorn.

Melt the butter in a large, heavy saucepan. Add sugar, Jello, corn syrup, and water. Cook, stirring often, over medium heat until the mixture reaches about 250° F - about 4 minutes after it comes to a boil.

Add baking soda and stir well to combine. Remove popcorn from the oven.

Pour Jello mixture evenly over the popcorn and mix well to coat evenly. Bake the popcorn in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes. Popcorn may take additional baking time to dry and become crisp, but watch it carefully to prevent burning.

Remove popcorn from baking pans and transfer to wax paper to cool. Break the popcorn up into small clusters.

Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container.

Chocolate Covered Popcorn

12 cup popped popcorn
2 Tbsp. butter
1 cup milk chocolate chips

½ cup corn syrup
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg

Spray a large roasting pan with cooking spray. Pop the popcorn and place it in the pan.

Combine butter, chocolate chips and corn syrup in a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils.

Pour mixture over popcorn and stir through to coat. Bake at 250° F for 30 minutes stirring after 15 minutes. Cool completely. Break into pieces and store in airtight container.

For an added dimension, add a cup or two of your favorite nuts.

Store in airtight container.

Soft Caramel Popcorn

2 bags of microwave popcorn

2 sticks of butter

1 cup of light Karo syrup

1 ¼ cups of brown sugar

1 can of sweetened condensed milk

In a large saucepan, melt butter. Add Karo syrup and brown sugar. Bring to a boil for 6 minutes. Remove from heat. Add sweetened condensed milk. Pour over popped popcorn. There will be more sauce than needed to cover the popcorn.

Tip: Put leftover sauce in tupperware and place in refrigerator. To enjoy again, just heat in microwave and pour over popcorn!

Root Beer Popcorn

6 cups popped popcorn
¼ cup margarine
½ cup sugar

½ cup corn syrup
2 teaspoons root beer flavoring

Place margarine, sugar, corn syrup and root beer flavoring in saucepan. Place on stove and bring mixture to a boil on medium high heat. Time the boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and pour over popcorn, stir until all popcorn is coated.

Spread popcorn mixture over greased cookie sheets and bake at 250° F for 15 minutes.  Stir once while baking.

Remove from oven. Cool popcorn completely. Keep in airtight container or it will become soggy.

It's always fun to try a new popcorn recipe. You'll find many of these recipes as fun to serve as they are to make. And if you snack while you make it, you may need to make an extra popcorn recipe to share.
