Pizza Party Ideas

You can hold your pizza party at a pizzeria or in your own home. Don’t be afraid to ask the pizzeria if your guests can make their own pizzas.

Sometimes a pizza is ordered to celebrate the end or class or passing a test.

But a pizza birthday party goes way beyond pizza and soda.

Have tons of fun with the cheesy goodness for a pizza celebration.

Invitations
Make an invitation in a clear CD case that looks like a pizza box. On the cover write: Special Delivery. Inside write: You’re invited to a pizza party! Include the details of who the party is for, the date, time, place and RSVP.

Or use one of these free printable pizza invitations.

Cakes
Make a round cake and decorate it like a pizza. Use yellow and orange frosting to mimic the cheese color. Use red fruit roll up cut in circles for pepperoni, cut black licorice pieces for olives, cut green gum drops for green peppers, and malt balls for sausage. You can grate some white chocolate on top and briefly melt under a broiler if you want a little special effect.

Decorations
Colors, red, white and yellow

Use a red and white checkered table cloth with a small vase with flowers in the middle. Make red and white checkered curtains for the window. Put yellow napkins in the center of the table with yellow plates and cups.

Hang a sign that says: Julie’s Pizzeria

Make oversized pizza toppings from cardstock and hang on the walls.

Here's a pizza birthday banner you can print out.

Costumes/Dress up
Aprons

Chef Hats – Easily make these with a 1 ½ inch wide band of poster board, long enough to wrap around the guest’s head. Staple a 22 inch circle of tissue paper to the inside of the band to make the chef hat. These could also be made with fabric and sewn.

Games and Activities
Pin the Pepperoni (ages 3-8)
Make a pizza on poster board. Cut out several pepperonis. Blindfold the guests, spin them around, and have them pin, or rather tape a pepperoni on the pizza.

Pizza Match (ages 3-8)
Print up two sets of cards, cut on the dotted line. Mix the cards and place face down and take turns flipping over the cards to find a matching set.

Make Your Own Pizza (ages 3-16)
What better way to celebrate a pizza party then to make your own pizza! Use the recipes on this page or make your own. Just set out the sauce, toppings and cheese and let the guests have fun. I suggest using prebaked crusts, then writing names on parchment paper next to the pizza before it’s baked. You could also give each guest a pie tin with pizza dough to make their own. Before baking write their names on the side of the pie tin with a permanent marker. Here are more pizza recipes you can use.

What’s Your Favorite Topping? (ages 8-16)
Describe your favorite pizza topping and have the other guests guess what it is. Play this like Charades or Pictionary. You can have the guests pick their own toppings or draw it from a bag: cheese, pepperoni, green peppers, black olives, anchovies, Canadian bacon, pineapple, sausage, bacon, chicken, spinach, onions, mushrooms. This is just more ooey gooey fun for your pizza party.

Pizza Bingo (ages 3-12)
Here's a great pizza party download you can use. Play Pizza Bingo while waiting for your pizzas to bake. Print out as many cards as you need and print one extra to cut up the images to be drawn. Play as you would regular bingo. Give the guests beans or M&Ms to mark their cards. When a guest gets four in a row shout "Pizza" and give them a prize.

Hot & Cold Pizza (ages 4-9)
This is a great pizza party game to be played over and over. Show the guests a printout of a pizza. Explain that one guest will be sent out of the room and the pizza will be hidden in the room somewhere. When the guest returns to the room his or her job will be to find the pizza. The other guests will help him or her find the object by clapping louder the closer the guest comes to finding the pizza, and softer as the guest is farther from the object. When the guest finds the pizza, send another guest out of the room while another guest hides the pizza. Repeat as needed.

Guess the Pizza Topping (ages 3-16)
Guess the pizza topping. Put the following items in individual bags and number the bags: pepperoni, onion, olives, pineapple, cheese, cooked sausage, bacon, green peppers. The items don’t necessarily need to be sliced and cut. You can use plastic bags inside brown paper bags if you want. Have everyone pass the bags around, feeling but not looking, and guessing what’s really inside, then writing it down on their paper. Provide hand wipes for your guests after this game is over. Youngest guests will probably crumble things like olives, so you may need a few extra bags of these, or omit them altogether.

Crafts
Pizza Magnet
(ages 3-10)
Make pizza from felt or foam pieces. Use glue dots to glue together. Add a magnet on the back. For younger guests use precut pieces. Sorry, I don’t think there’s a kit you can buy. You’ll have to do all the pre-cutting yourself.

Make Place Mats (ages 3-12)
Color and decorate a large piece of cardstock or an open manila folder. Cover with clear contact paper and use as a placemat for your pizza party.

Decorate Aprons (ages 3-16)
Provide each guest with an apron—from the craft section is best. Decorate with fabric paints or permanent markers.

Decorate Chef’s Hats (ages 3-16)
Easily make these with a 1 ½ inch wide band of poster board, long enough to wrap around the guest’s head. Staple a 22 inch circle of tissue paper to the inside of the band to make the chef hat. Allow the guests to decorate their bands with stickers, markers, etc.

Refreshments
Pizza – What else would you serve at a pizza party?

Cookie Pizza – Frost a cookie, or use strawberry jam for sauce. Then top with red fruit roll up for pepperoni, cut black licorice pieces for olives, cut green gum drops for green peppers, and malt balls for sausage. You can grate some white chocolate on top and briefly melt under a broiler if you want a little special effect.

Pizza Salad: a green salad with pizza toppings, such as pepperoni, olives, tomatoes and cheese. Just add your favorite salad dressing.
