Pasta Bar Ideas

A pasta bar is a simple and easy crowd pleaser.

If you're serving a spaghetti dinner or need some simple pasta recipes, this is the place.

Pasta:

  • Spaghetti
  • Bowtie Pasta
  • Shell Pasta

Sauces:

  • Marinara Sauce
  • Alfredo Sauce
  • Cheese Sauce

Toppings:

  • Warm, diced chicken
  • Parmesan Cheese, shredded
  • Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Other Main Dishes:

Sides:

Use the tips below to make your pasta and sauce ideal for your pasta bar.

Pasta Tips
  • Cook the pasta according to directions on package.
  • Then, lightly coat the pasta with olive oil so it will not become sticky.
  • If you cook the pasta the day before, coat with lots of oil.
  • Reheat pasta by placing in boiling water for one minute. Most of the oil will come off in the water and just enough will stay with the pasta to keep it from sticking.

Sauce Tips
  • Use sauces purchased from the store.
  • If making your own alfredo sauce, do not add the cheese while the sauce is too warm, or the cheese will curdle. Bring it up to temperature slowly, and never higher than a simmer. Then, allow it to cool slightly before adding the cheese.
  • I recommend using all three sauces for parties with both adults and children who may prefer making mac & cheese. It may not be traditional for a pasta bar, but there will be many who will appreciate it.
  • Keep the sauces warm in a crockpot.
  • You may need to borrow some crockpots from a friend. Be sure to return the crockpots cleaned and with some treat inside to say "thank you."
