Party Desserts
Great party desserts can be the basis for everything else you serve.
Some of the following dessert recipes are simple and some require a
little planning. They're all scrumptuous.

Party desserts don't
really differ from regular dinner desserts, except they're for a larger
group. Here are some
great ideas and dessert recipes for any crowd.

I've
listed some of my favorite party dessert recipes from family and
friends. I
suspect some of your family and friends will enjoy these dessert
recipes as
well.
None
of these
dessert recipes are difficult. Some do require a little time but there
are no special tricks involved in making them. I like to keep things
simple. Pick a recipe and find how the right party desserts can be the
whipped topping for your party.
| Apple
Pudding Cake |
|
1 cup sugar
½ cup butter
2 eggs
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp. soda
|
¼
tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
½ cup nuts
3 medium apples peeled & chopped |
|
Mix
sugar, butter and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Put in
apples and nuts. Bake in ungreased pan for 30 minutes at 350˚. Serve warm or cold with sauce and
whipped cream.

| Sauce for Apple Pudding Cake |
|
1 cube butter
1 cup half and half
½ cup white sugar
|
½
cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
¼ tsp. vanilla |
|
Combine all ingredients and
cook slowly until it thickens.

Dump Cake |
|
1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
1 30 oz. can cherry pie
filling
|
1 small can crushed
pineapple,
drained
½ cup butter, melted
|
|
Dump pineapple and pie
filling in bottom of 9”x13”pan. Dump dry cake mix on next. Drizzle with
melted
butter. Bake at 350˚ for 35 minutes, or until bubbly. Serve warm with
whipped
cream or vanilla ice cream.

| Easy
Cheesecake |
|
Crust: 2 cups graham
cracker
crumbs
|
1
stick margarine, melted |
|
Mix together, spread in 9" x
13" pan and press to bottom. Bake at 325˚
for 10 min. Cool.
|
|
Filling:
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
1 ½ small tubs cool whip
1 tsp. vanilla
|
1
½ tsp. lemon juice
1 can blueberry pie filling
1 cup vanilla wafer crumbs
(optional) |
|
Add sugar to softened cheese.
Mix well. Fold in the cool whip. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Spread
over cool
crumb crust. Over this spread the blueberry pie filling. Sprinkle the
top with
vanilla wafer crumbs if desired. Refrigerate well before serving.

| Eclair
Casserole (Sometimes called Moon Crater Cake) |
|
1 cube margarine
1 cup water
1 cup flour
|
dash salt
4 eggs
|
|
Filling:
3
cups milk
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese,
softened
1 6-oz. pkg. vanilla pudding
|
Topping:
8
oz. cool whip
chocolate syrup
|
|
Preheat oven to 400˚. Boil
water and margarine. Add flour all at once; take off burner. Mix well.
Add
salt. Add eggs one at a time; mix well between each egg. Press into a
prepared
9”x13” pan. Bake 25-30 minutes at 400˚.
For filling:
Beat milk, cream
cheese and pudding. Pour on top of cooled cream puff. Refrigerate until
set. Top
with cool whip then drizzle with chocolate syrup.

| German
Chocolate Upside Down Cake |
|
1 cup nuts
1 cup coconut
1 German Choc. cake mix
3 large eggs
|
⅓ cup cooking oil
½ cup butter or margarine
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
|
|
Oil a 9”x13” pan. Spread nuts
and coconut on bottom of pan. Mix cake mix according to box directions.
Pour
over the nuts and coconut. Heat in a microwaveable dish the butter and
cream
cheese until warm. Stir in powdered sugar until creamy. Dollop by
spoonfuls on
top of cake mix as evenly as possible (so all servings of cake will
contain
some). Bake at 350˚ for 35-40 min. Cake will be sticky when done.

Cream Sundae Bar (A favorite party dessert) |

Brownies
Chocolate chip cookies
Vanilla ice cream
Chocolate syrup topping
Strawberry topping
Caramel topping

Maraschino cherries
Whipped cream
Chopped nuts
Cookie Crumbles
Small chocolate candies

|
Provide
bowls and spoons and allow everyone to build their own ice cream sundae
with their favorite toppings.

| Strawberry Vanilla
Cake |
|
1
white or yellow cake mix
1 large pkg. strawberry
Jell-O
|
1
pkg. instant vanilla
pudding
1 cup cool whip
|
|
Make
cake as directed on box.
After cake has cooled, poke many holes in top of cake with a fork. Mix
Jell-O
with 2 cups boiling water and pour slowly over top of cake, letting
Jell-O
mixture seep into cake. Let cool in the refrigerator. Mix pudding as
directed
and add cool whip. Let this set up in refrigerator for 15 minutes then
spread
pudding on cake and serve.
