Party Desserts

Great party desserts can be the basis for everything else you serve.

Some of the following dessert recipes are simple and some require a little planning. They're all scrumptuous.

Party desserts don't really differ from regular dinner desserts, except they're for a larger group. Here are some great ideas and dessert recipes for any crowd.

I've listed some of my favorite party dessert recipes from family and friends. I suspect some of your family and friends will enjoy these dessert recipes as well.

None of these dessert recipes are difficult. Some do require a little time but there are no special tricks involved in making them. I like to keep things simple. Pick a recipe and find how the right party desserts can be the whipped topping for your party.

Preheat oven to 400˚. Boil water and margarine. Add flour all at once; take off burner. Mix well. Add salt. Add eggs one at a time; mix well between each egg. Press into a prepared 9”x13” pan. Bake 25-30 minutes at 400˚.

½ cup butter or margarine
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese

Oil a 9”x13” pan. Spread nuts and coconut on bottom of pan. Mix cake mix according to box directions. Pour over the nuts and coconut. Heat in a microwaveable dish the butter and cream cheese until warm. Stir in powdered sugar until creamy. Dollop by spoonfuls on top of cake mix as evenly as possible (so all servings of cake will contain some). Bake at 350˚ for 35-40 min. Cake will be sticky when done.

Strawberry Vanilla Cake

1 white or yellow cake mix
1 large pkg. strawberry Jell-O

1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding
1 cup cool whip

Make cake as directed on box. After cake has cooled, poke many holes in top of cake with a fork. Mix Jell-O with 2 cups boiling water and pour slowly over top of cake, letting Jell-O mixture seep into cake. Let cool in the refrigerator. Mix pudding as directed and add cool whip. Let this set up in refrigerator for 15 minutes then spread pudding on cake and serve.

Try other colors of Jell-O to match your party theme.
