Night at the Museum 2 Party Ideas

Battle of the Smithsonian

Celebrate the movie with a Night at the Museum 2 party. Here are a few ideas to get you started on your own battle of the Smithsonian.

Make a tablet of Ahkmenrah – put it on the front door for guests to see as they arrive. You can use gold paper from a scrapbook or craft store or a Styrofoam sheet from the hardware store and spray paint it gold.

Invitations can read: The Lewellyn Museum is hosting a special exhibit for…name the guest of honor here…Please attend this red carpet event. We will be celebrating in the manner of the movie, Night at the Museum, Battle for the Smithsonian.

Dinosaur Party Game

Amelia Earhart was key to this movie, and she is key to a Night at the Museum 2 party. And, Amelia loved airplanes. So, fold paper airplanes and then have a contest to see which can fly the farthest, or which can do the most loop-di-loos.

Te Easter Island statue loves gum gum. So, host a bubble gum blowing contest. Give the guests a piece or two of gum, allow a couple minutes of chewing to get the gum soft, then blow the biggest bubble you can!

Do magic tricks for Genghis Kahn.

Make a dinosaur skeleton with pasta. Provide your guests with an outline of a dinosaur and lots of different pasta shapes to glue to it to make their own dinosaur skeleton.

Fold balloon animals. Remember the doggy balloon statue in the museum? This was one of my girl’s favorite parts of the movie. That huge balloon is bounding around. Make some fun balloons of your own.

Cowboy Hat

Make a diorama. You can easily find miniature cowboys and train engines in the toy department. Everyone loves Jedediah.

It’s a bust! Use playdoh to make a bust; that’s a statue that’s just a head and bust. Teddy Roosevelt’s statue in the Smithsonian was just a bust. Poor guy couldn’t even scratch his nose!

Serve hot dog octopuses in honor of the squid that comes out of the crate. Cut half of the hot dog in fourths—the long way. You don’t actually cut any pieces off. Like you’re doing to cut the hot dog in half, the long way, but you only go up half way. Then slice the other direction. Cook and it comes out with four squiggly limbs. This will be a favorite at your Night at the Museum 2 party.
