contest to see who can keep the hoop up the longest.

Limbo (ages 3-16) Everyone takes turns going under a horizontal pole. They
can’t touch the pole, and can only touch the ground with their feet, and can’t
bend forward to go under the pole, only backward. After everyone has gone
under, lower the pole a little and send everyone through again. Keep lowering
the pole until only one guest has made it through without touching pole or
ground. Be sure to play lively Caribbean music
for this luau party game.
Flip Flop Jungle (ages 3-16)
Give everyone a flip flop sandal and have them find the matching flip flop from
a jumbled pile of flip flops.
Build Sand Castles (ages
3-16) If you don’t have your own private
beach or sand pit you can still provide each guest with a small amount of sand
to build their own sand castle. Provide cups, bowls, spoons and other tools for
building sand castles. A fun and simple luau party game.
Water Balloon Toss (ages 4-16)
Fill a lot of water balloons and have them ready in baskets. Line the baskets
with a towel so the balloons won’t break open from any rough spots in the
baskets. Pair everyone up and have them stand a couple feet away from their
partner and toss a water balloon back and forth. Then take a step backward each
time they get the balloon, before they toss it again. Which team can get the
greatest distance between them?
Ball Kick (ages 5-16)
Using a beach ball, see who can kick it the highest or the farthest.
Crabwalk Relay Race (ages 6-16)
Have everyone walk like a crab, get down on their backs and then push up on
their hands and walk on their legs and hands a short distance in this manner.
Beach Ball Soccer (ages 6-16)
Use a beach ball to play soccer with extremely relaxed rules.
Crafts Japanese Fan (ages
3-10) Decorate some paper with brightly colored designs. Then cut
the paper in half, the long way and glue or tape the two papers together to
make a really long strip of paper. Fold this strip of paper accordion style and
tape or glue a popsicle stick on each end for handles, with the stick hanging
below the paper a bit to be used as a handle. Or you can tape or glue each end
around a thin dowel rod.
Leis (ages 3-16)
For younger guests make leis by colored macaroni noodles and paper cut in
flower shapes strung on yarn. For older guests make leis from silk flowers
strung on thread with needles. This
file has some flowers you can cut out and use.
Tropical Flowers (ages
4-12) Cut fun shapes from bright colored
paper and staple or tape to plastic drinking straws to make into a flower.
Basically, cut the paper into circle or triangle shapes and bunch one end
together for the center of the flower to be stapled, or taped, to the straw.
Let each guest make enough for a bouquet.
Chinese Paper Lanterns (ages
5-12)
Fold colored or patterned paper in half and cut a 1” fringe from the folded
side up to about an inch of the edge of the paper. Open the paper and make it
into a cylinder with the fold pointed outward and the slits vertical. Tape the
ends together. These could also make a fun decoration for your luau party.
Flower Hair Clips
(ages 5-16) Hot glue silk flowers to plain metal clips. Slip a leaf in
the clip you can take out after the glue cools (this keeps the clip from being
glued shut). This is a fun reminder of you luau party.
Make a Tiki (ages
6-16) Give each guest a bar of soft soap, like Ivory, and a
plastic butter knife to carve it into their own little tiki.
Hemp Bracelets

into bracelets.
