Indiana Jones Party Ideas

Indiana Jones party ideas for the adventurer in all of us.

Decorate with old maps (You might be able to find some in some old National Geographic magazines).

Also decorate with tikis, skeleton heads and dusty cobwebs.

If you can find some crystal skulls and sunken Egyptian rooms in the sand, that would be cool, too.

If not, then use any knick knack from any of the places Indie has travelled, including Egypt, India, Thailand, Italy, the Middle East and South America.

X Never Marks the Spot – Ha! Put several Xs all over the play area. Under one of them include a map to a treasure. The treasure can be a treat wrapped up like a present or another game for the party.

Trace Indy’s Travels – Make a map that looks old with a brown paper bag. Cut it so it lays flat, wrinkle it lots, get it wet and let it dry and burn the edges just a little. Then make it look like a map. Draw red dotted lines across the map that roam and squiggle all over the place and have your guests try to trace Indy’s travels. Where did he end up? You can do a few maps and have the guests split into teams to race to find Indy’s destination.

Target Practice – Use a Nerf gun that shoots soft darts or a water gun and practice shooting at a target. A simple but fun Indiana Jones party game.

The Writing on the Wall – Indiana Jones is always finding some hieroglyphs or writing on the walls of catacombs or something to help him in his quest. Provide your guests with homemade paper (you can purchase it at the craft store) and let them make their own “ancient” map for finding lost treasure.

Holy Grail – Purchase plain plastic goblets from a party store and let your guests decorate them to make them look like the Holy Grail—at least their version of it. Provide a basin of water for them to dip into and try out their cups for a truly unique Indiana Jones party activity.

Mouse Pad - Use markers or colored pencils to decorate a paper—you can give the guests coloring sheets or blank paper. Cover the top with a clear laminate. Cut to the size of a mouse pad. Then use an acid-free spray adhesive to affix the picture to a sheet of black foam. If you feel the pad is too thin use the spray adhesive to attach a second sheet of black foam. Cut out with scissors.

Mummy Wrap – Split the guests into teams and provide each team with 1-2 rolls of toilet paper. Then have the teams race to wrap up one of the members like a mummy. This is an absolute favorite game. Be prepared to play it multiple times.

Find the Gems – Why does it always have to be snakes? Sprinkle several gems (from the craft store) around a room. Then fill the room with twisty balloons—to represent snakes. You’ll need a lot of balloons. Use some sort of air pump to fill the balloons to save yourself from hyperventilating. Have the guests go in the room and search for as many gems as they can find. The guest with the most wins.

Don’t Lose the Fedora! – Indy’s hat is his trademark. Play a game of tag where the person who is “It” is wearing a fedora. To make someone else “It” they have to be tagged with the fedora. Tag--You're Indiana Jones party is the best!

Crayon RubbingsIndiana made a rubbing of the second marker…the knight’s shield. Give your guests crayons and paper and have them make their own rubbings of different items.

Just place the paper over something like a leaf or a book with an embossed cover and lightly rub over it with the broadside of a crayon. You can even let your guests find their own things to make a rubbing of and have the other guests try to guess what it is.
