 Gold Coins
|
Have your guests buy treats with gold coins from the treat
trolley. Include chocolate frogs if you can find them, but, gummi frogs will
also work. Serve gourmet jelly beans with many flavors and other fun treats.
Make Wands – Add
glitter, horse hair, green foil for dragon skin, phoenix feather, etc.
to a
hole drilled in the center of the wand. Or make wands from chopsticks
with a
piece of felt glued on for a handle. Wrap a sparkly pipe cleaner around
the wand. Now your guests really ready for a Harry Potter party.
Sorcerer’s Stone
– Give each guest their own smooth stone to paint (use acrylic paints). Endow
it with a magical spell with their wands, and it will become their own personal
sorcerer’s stone.
Leviosa –
Practice this simple wizard spell and levitate a feather by blowing through a
straw. Who can keep their feather in the air longest?
Make a Potion –
Gather all sorts of fun ingredients for a potion and let your guests have fun. Try adding 100 year old
dust (baking soda) to water from a bitter well (colored vinegar). You may also
provide eyeballs (peeled grapes), pig intestines (cooked spaghetti), bitterroot
(small twigs or pretzels), ant poop (poppy seeds), unicorn droppings (malt balls), dragon
snot (green jelly), bat droppings (chocolate covered raisins), or chopped liver
(chopped, canned mushrooms).
Quidditch –
You’ll need to call your neighbors for a few extra brooms. Give each of your
guest a broom and have them try to run with a broom between their knees while
playing Quidditch. Obviously there will be some differences, like no bludger
and no flying. But, split your guests into two teams and let them try to get a
ball through a goal, tossing and rolling a ball across a field.
Magic Duel – Once
your Harry Potter party guests are outfitted with wands, review a few magical
spells, then host a magic duel. Have two guests stand together and take ten
steps away from each other, then turn and try their best magic spells on each
other. Whoever is first, wins!
Triwizard
Tournament – In the Triwizard
Tournament Harry Potter has the chance to steal a golden egg protected by a
dragon, find Ron hidden underwater, and go through a labyrinth full of magical
obstacles. So, host your own Triwizard Tournament. Spray paint a plastic Easter
Egg gold and hide it. Since you may have difficulty finding dragons, just hide
the egg very well. Then, give your guests a snorkel mask to search for
something in a wading pool. Make sure the wading pool has many objects, both
floating and not floating, for them to search through. Make your own
challenging labyrinth in the form of an obstacle course.
Animal Candy –
Magic candy can make you make animals sounds. Have your guests try different
flavors of jelly beans and imitate whatever animals it reminds them of. You may
want to give some ideas just to get this Harry Potter party game going.
