Invitations (Groovy beginning for a disco party)
Glue the invitation over the label of a record purchased from a thrift store. "We're having a disco party and we need you! It's going to be groovy!"

Decorations (Set the mood)
For colors use anything fluorescent or tie-dyed. Pick any two bright or flourescent colors and add bright or flourescent yellow, and it will look good.

One of the great things about disco parties is they just need to appear retro, they don’t have to be authentic to the disco era.

Try hanging old records on the walls—8 tracks don’t work so well.

Hang up peace signs and use a black light for fun effects.

Make a curtain for your doorway with monofilament fishing line and large pom poms. String several pom poms on the fishing line, maybe one or three pom poms with an inch space between pom poms. Hang several strings about an inch apart across the top of thedoorway. Use colors that correspond with your party.

Cakes (A smooth tradition for a disco party)
Decorate a round cake as a smiley face. Use yellow as the background color or snake a few rainbow colors along the top of the cake (put stripes of colors on the cake and then use a spatula to blend them, snake fashion). Use black or dark blue to pipe on the smiley face.

Make a smiley face cupcake cake.

Costumes/Dress up (Far out!)
On the invitation ask everyone to dress in disco clothing. Or you may provide bright colored wigs and retro clothing picked up at a thrift store.

Provide tie-dyed shirts.

Games and Activities (You can dig it)
Peace (ages 3-10)
Color this peace sign and cut it out. The rub it lightly with vegetable oil and it will look like stained glass. Loop with some string and hang it in a window.

Dress-up Contest (ages 5-35)
Hold a contest for whoever has the best retro costume. Be sure to mention this contest on the invitation.

Freeze Dance (ages 5-14)
Everyone dances while music is played. Everyone freezes in whatever position they are in when the music stops.

Twister (ages 5-25)
Play the game Twister.

Disco Scramble (ages 8-90)
Unscramble the words from the disco era in this download.

Saturday Night Fever Word List (ages 8-90)
How many words can you make from the letters in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER? Print out this paper and find out.

Name that Song (ages 10-90)
Play bits of songs and have everyone guess the artist and/or the year it was released.

Who Am I? (ages 18-90)
Match famous people from the 1970’s with their profession or the event with which they are most associated.

Crafts (Cool to the max)
Peace Signs (ages 8-16)
Make from mesh plastic canvas and yarn.

Coasters (ages 5-16)
Use old CDs and, shiny side up, place printed stickers over the center of them. Then cover with clear contact paper.

Pet Rocks (ages 5-16)
Collect and clean small rocks. Decorate into pets. They can be painted, or use hot glue to add fur and googly eyes.

Sun Catcher (ages 5-16)
Glue two CDs together (shiny side out) and decorate with glitter. Then hang the sun catcher from string and place in a window or other bright place.

Disco Ball Rearview Mirror Hangar (ages 6-16)
Cover 1” Styrofoam balls with white glue and cover with silver glitter or sequins. Allow the balls to dry. Use a needle to string quilting thread or kite string through the ball and create a loop to hang from a rearview mirror.

Refreshments (Feel the funk)
Pita pockets and finger foods such as carrot sticks, grapes, etc

Pizza and soda
