Cars Party Ideas

Plan a party of the century with these Cars party ideas.

Decorate with checkered flags and pictures of Lightning McQueen and other cars from the movie.

Try bright red as a main color with an accent or yellow. Red tablecloth with yellow plates, yellow lighting up on the walls…you get the idea.

Turn small orange cones into a centerpiece by sticking some racing flags into the top of them.

Race Cars. Race small Matchbox or Hot Wheel cars. Race them across a smooth floor or a smooth board. Try different surfaces—both level and inclined, and cheer really loud for each car that crosses the finish line.

Run a race with crepe paper streamers for a finish line. Let your guests pretend they are cars and have them run the races…maybe around Willy’s Butte and back. Yeah, who is Speed?

Go fishing with a tow cable—like Mater does. Well, it’s just a magnet on a string on a dowel rod. But, go fishing and find something fun. You can put paper clips on stickers or temporary tattoos for the guests to pick up. Or maybe pictures of different Car characters with numbers on the backs that correspond to a prize.

Peet Stop! Do a relay race with your guests. Which team can change the tire or fill the oil can the fastest? Of course, by changing a tire it's really just a wheel on a toy car or even a quick release bicycle tire. And, filling the oil can is just putting apple juice in a bottle. But, hey, they'll have fun because you're excited about the Cars party and your excitement will carry the day!

Pinstriping Tattoo—or you can use just any kind of temporary tattoo. You could also try painting small pictures with acrylic paints on the cheeks of your guests. Just practice on some paper before you try their cheeks.
