Games
and Activities
Sand Castles (ages
3-16)
Provide pails, shovels, various cups and many other items
for your guests to build sand castles. If you’re really at a beach,
everyone
can make their own castle. If you’re in a sand box, you may want to
split the
guests into teams to make sand castles.
Snorkel
Relay
(ages 3-16)
Split your guests into teams and have each team send their
members, one at a time, with a snorkel mask on through a short obstacle
course.
The first team with all members through, wins.
Floatie
Ring Toss
(ages 3-16)
Get several small ring floaties and have your guests try to
toss them onto a t-ball stand.
Tug
of War (ages
3-16)
This is a
classic for any beach
party. Split the guests into two teams. Mark a line on the sand and lay
a rope
across it, the middle of the rope on the line. Have the teams tug at
either end
of a long rope. One team wins when the other team is pulled over the
line. You
could also make a mud pit to mark the center and the losing team ends
up a bit
dirty. Warn your guests in the invitation so they can dress
appropriately if
you choose this version.
Shark
Attack! (ages
5-16)
Split the
guests into two teams,
Sharks and Swimmers. Start with more Swimmers than Sharks. Put the
Sharks in a
central area and all the Swimmers on one side of the play area.
Instruct the
Swimmers to run to the other side of the room without being tagged by a
Shark.
Any Swimmers tagged by a Shark become a Shark. Send the Swimmers
through
several times until there is only one left to win!

Ball Soccer

Sand Casting

Form hand prints or foot prints in the sand and then use
plaster of Paris to make a mold or cast of the print. Follow the
instructions
on the plaster of Paris packaging and be sure to mix it in small
amounts.
Sand
Bottles (ages
3-16)
Fill glass jars with layers of colored sand. Each layer
might be thicker on one side or another. It makes a simple and
beautiful craft
for your beach party.
Colored
Sand Art
(ages 5-16)
On stiff paper like cardstock, allow your guests to drizzle
white glue and sprinkle sand over the top of it—one color at a time—to
design
their own unique sand art.

Shell Necklaces

Sand
Clay Sculpture

temperature until
the mixture thickens. Cool and keep in airtight baggies until ready to
use.
