Cakes Cut a rectangular cake into squares, either many individual
squares instead of cupcakes or larger squares to be layered into a cube.
Decorate as building blocks with alphabet letters on the sides.
Decorate a round cake with blue to look like water and white
bubbles and clean toy rubber duckies.
Decorations Do a color scheme of pastel colors. You can use primarily
blue or pink, but it doesn’t matter at this baby party.
Put flowers in baby bottles for vases.
Use cloth diapers for napkins. Or, use colored paper napkins
rolled up with a pacifier as a napkin ring.
Make a bunting out of diapers.
Costumes/Dress up Offer bibs, baby bottles, etc.
Games and Activities Mother May I? (ages
3-10) Play the classic game of Mother
May I? One guest stands as the Mother at the front of a room, facing all the
other guests lined up at the other end of the room. The guests take turns
asking Mother, “Mother may I take 2 steps?” The Mother then tells the guests
how many steps they may take. Sometimes the mother can change the steps to baby
steps, sideways steps, or even ballerina steps. The first guest to reach Mother
wins and gets to take a turn being Mother. Mother or baby, it's perfect for a baby party.
Picture Books (ages
3-16) I don’t care how old you are,
sharing picture books is a wonderful experience. Pick out your favorite books
and read them with the guests. Younger guests will want books with fewer words
per page. While reading the books let the guests act it out for more fun.
Show and Tell (ages
3-16) Invite your guests to show off
something special to them. Warn them about this in your party invitation.
Mad Lib Nursery Rhymes (ages 4-8)
Turn some of your favorite nursery rhymes into Mad Lib party games. Click
here for some ideas.
Diaper Bowling (ages
4-16) Use rolled up diapers to knock down empty cans or soda
bottles. Make sure they’re clean, unused diapers. Gross!
Pacifier Bobbing (ages
4-16) Put a bunch of pacifier in a large
bowl of water and have the guests take turns trying to get a pacifier out using
their mouths, and no hands. Similar to bobbing for apples. |
